Joy and Happiness—Transform Your Life

By Eileen Wood

Happiness is a state of being and the state of your life is a reflection of your state of mind.

The ultimate desire for every human on this planet is HAPPINESS and feelings of JOY. If you are not feeling happy or joyful today, then now is an excellent time to realign yourself so that you can live in this paradigm. One key is for the mind, body and spirit to be on the same page…to be aligned and working off the same grid. In order to be in a state of happiness and joy we need to be able to understand what it means to us, as an individual, to be in this state of awareness. We cannot look outside ourselves to “get” happiness; rather it is manifested from the inside and then reflects out. The more we can understand who we are, what is important in our own life and how we can achieve our desires; then the more we are being happy. The mind, body and spirit are not separate, they are like a three legged stool and if one leg is not solid and strong equal to the other two then we are off balance and not aligned. This life you have right now is no one’s other than yours. It is through your choices, feelings and images that your life is created. Happiness is a state of being and the state of your life is a reflection of your state of mind. All things start with our thoughts, followed by feelings, ending in our actions. Learning to be aware and conscious of thoughts and feelings, the choices you make will be the direction you take yourself.

Happiness Tips

  1. Count your blessings. We have so much to be grateful for. There is all the “stuff” we have, the people in our lives and so much more. We can be grateful for all the variety, such as 32 flavors of ice cream and at least a dozen flowers to choose from. We can count our education, our knowledge and our opportunities. And we have soooo much more freedom than our ancestors. Geez, with all these blessings to count, it gets hard to enjoy living in terror of the big, bad world.
  2. Smile at a stranger. If the world shows us a threatening face, why not paint that face with smiles to make it less threatening. Let’s face it, if I smile at you, you’ll smile back. The more I smile, the more people will smile at me. The more you smile, the more people will smile at you. If everybody follows this advice, at least dentists will be too busy to fear world events.
  3. Learn a new skill. Imagine the sense of accomplishment and the power of mastering a new skill. Like mesquite cooking. Like whittling or flying an airplane. And if you learn that skill in a classroom setting, full of other energized new-skill-masterers, you get the bonus of seeing that positive face of the world, complete with smiles and busy dentists.
  4. Study history. Bad things happen. Good things happen. That’s history. Today will one day be history that somebody reads about. So don’t sweat it or the small things. Be in the present, it is a gift we give ourselves. All things that happen are experiences, nothing more and nothing less. It is how we respond that writes the history. Why not provide positive, uplifting information for the history books?
  5. Volunteer. One of the scariest things about the world today is not just that it seems to be going downhill, but that we feel powerless to stop it. Worse still, politicians and diplomats are in charge. But we CAN take control and send the world uphill right in our own neighborhood. We can help others where those who like to be in control cannot stop us. Like helping the old lady across the street, volunteer at a shelter, help someone to improve themselves. There are infinite ways a small gesture can go a long way.
  6. Drop the play-by-play. In times of war and world crisis we have the opportunity to watch events as they unfold, just as if we were in the stands at the football game. Wait, they are about to strike. Come on, you can do it. Launch that missile. Hit that target. Hurry. Send it in. That’s it. Yes! Yes! …Noooooo! You missed. So don’t get too carried away. Sports is only sports, but war is real. Avoid getting caught up in the play-by-play.
  7. Have faith. Prayer is a great comfort to many people in times of crisis. If you are a believer who has been distracted by other things in life, allow yourself to seek comfort in the greater source. Or simply have faith that you are exactly where you are meant to be and that life is good. Count your blessings.
  8. Express Love. In everything you do come from the heart and know that you are part of the whole. All things are one and the more you can come from the heart center, the more your life will be centered around love. You will begin to see the miracles in life, the happiness and joy that is around you, the beauty of the simple things, the gifts you are given daily and the wonderful life you already have.

Each day take a happiness tip and practice experiencing it. You will be surprised at how your world begins to change. It all starts with you and then spreads out ultimately coming back to you. It is like a circle…no beginning, no end. Only the process, the cycle. So, what you put out today will reach far and wide returning to you in order to cycle again. You can create new and exciting cycles by changing your focus, your perceptions, your mental pictures. Soon it becomes a part of you and your world. I would love to hear back from you regarding your successes in co-creating and using the principles listed in this article. Please pay forward what you learn to others so they too can be happy and joyful!!
